May 'Times of the sign' blog - down memory lane
Pope Iron Road may be an unusual name but it turned out to be a happy home for CitySigns for six years.
We moved to the spacious premises in the Barbourne area of Worcester in 2004 having grown out of our previous base at the rather exotic sounding Havana House in Northwick.
Even though the company was expanding and taking on more work, we never thought we would ever fill all the space.
Our Pope Iron Road premises were quite basic. Spread over two storeys, it was like a rabbit warren with many rooms and tiny alcoves. If we hadn’t have been there, it would have been ideal for Laser Quest!
Although our home was hardly state-of-the-art, we went from strength to strength during our time in Barbourne, handily placed between the charming Gheluvelt Park – perfect for eating our lunchtime sandwiches - and Worcester Racecourse.
We continued to invest in new equipment and cutting edge technology and attract more clients, many of whom are still with us today.
But as we grew bigger, so did our need for new premises. In 2010 – our 50th anniversary year – it was time to move on again.
A two storey, 2,700 sq ft site at Ball Mill Top, on the outskirts of Worcester, beckoned so beginning another chapter in the CitySigns success story.
